10k.caash has been dominating the dance rap scene after his dance creation The Woah blew up. He has recently been helping to put Dallas on the map for rap and hip hop after extending his creativity to music. He came out with his third album Freshman Year mid September 2020, which features his friend GUN40 (who he met on Call of Duty), Miyagi, D Savage, and more. The song "Left Knee" has since blown up on TikTok and Triller, which follows suite with 10k’s main goal for creating music.
After posting his dance videos on Triller, 10k started receiving attention from Lil Uzi, who visited Dallas to partake in the dance clips back in 2018. Since then he has gone on to work with artists such as Rico Nasty, Kenny Beats, and Lil Yachty. He is now signed with Def Jam Recordings, where he has released all three albums
He delivers verses aggressively, which creates an unusual juxtaposition to his samples that sound like they’re straight out of a cartoon. Abandoning typical songwriting form, 10k is creating what New York Times refers to as the "post song": short, to the point rap clips, that are ready to be paired with dances from Tik Tok or Triller. Although his songs can stand alone, his music is ultimately meant to be interacted with, and his newest album fulfills this.
Freshman Year carries the same energy as his past two albums, which sometimes feels as though 10k is almost too hype for his own beats. It’s a concept album with a new take on your classic high school movie, which is really emphasized by the foley like samples. The song "Lunch Fight", clearly conveys the juxtaposition in his music through dramatized cartoon punch sounds that fight for space against his raw, combative verses. This is a style seen throughout the album, and is one of the defining aspects of 10k.caash.
