Bryndon Cook is Definitely a Starchild

Bryndon Cook, also known as Starchild & The New Romantic isn’t necessarily new to the scene and if you haven’t already listened to him, get on it! Cook has been releasing music for quite some time and has offered his talents to artists such as Solange and Blood Orange in the past. With Starchild & The New Romantic, Cook calls for full attention and his most recent release, Forever, is one of the best of the summer.

Throughout Forever, Starchild has the ability to numb the body, while also fueling the mind with strong feelings of love and loss. The album opens with the track “Forever”, an emotional song that allows the listener to feel the soft yearning that is being conveyed, yet still remaining catchy. You will always find yourself singing along to this track and most likely wrapped in your feels. Each track expands upon the last tremendously, although they all still manage to remain consistent with the theme of the album.

The album boasts smooth features from Toro y Moi, Nick Hakim, Rosehardt, Le’Asha, and London O’Connor, which all complement the soulful, yet never overbearing voice that Cook puts on full display. These features are able to work so effectively because they never take away from what Starchild is trying to convey and he remains in full focus throughout the 10-track project.

Forever is exactly what I love about music, it is honest, simple, and easy to listen to. It is one of those albums that I could vibe to any day of the week, no matter how I’m feeling, or what mindset I’m being consumed by.
