LA Leakers Freestyles: Best of the Best

Consisting of DJ Sourmilk and Justin Credible, the Los Angeles Leakers are DJs, radio announcers, bloggers, and fanatics of anything hip-hop related. Most known for bringing popular rappers onto their radio show to deliver the best freestyles on the market, the LA Leakers have continued to put out must watch content. Just today, J. Cole rolled up and dropped one of the most impressive freestyles that I have seen in recent years. To spark discussion and supply you with content, here are our top-five LA Leakers freestyles:

5. Freddie Gibbs Freestyles Over Dom Kennedy's "My Type of Party" (2019)

This might not be my favorite Freddie freestyle, but his greatness still shines through. Gibbs throws so many quick hitters at us that he even says "you gonna have to dissect it". He also gets bonus points for the Nipsey Hussle shoutout and for bringing along his son, Freddie Gibbs Jr.

4. Cordae Freestyles Over Kendrick Lamar's "DUCKWORTH." and "Esskeetit" (2018)

At the beginning of Cordae's career some questioned his authenticity, mostly due to his affiliation with the YBN hip-hop collective. This freestyle proved the haters wrong and highlighted what Cordae has grown into, one of the most impressive lyricists of the new generation.

3. D Smoke Freestyles Over Outkast's "Rosa Parks" (2020)

D Smoke is smooth and lyrically gifted, but it is his bilingualism that makes him stand out. His Spanish fluency is on full display during this freestyle and even when the beat is cut, he doesn't miss one step. This man is a professional and will continue to find great success down the road.

2. Joey Bada$$ Freestyles Over Future's "Mask Off" (2017)

One of the most hype freestyles that I have ever seen and a video I have watched hundreds of times. Joey knows how to have a good time and his energy resonates in every room that he enters, the only downside is that it lacks depth and duration. Regardless, this will go down as one of the most fun freestyles of all time.

1. J. Cole Freestyles Over "93 Til Infinity" & Mike Jones' "Still Tippin" (2021)

To be frank, I have not loved a J.Cole track in quite some time and haven't been super excited about his upcoming album The Off-Season. This freestyle changed everything. Cole's flows are imperfectly perfect and he appears to be having a great time, showing us that he is still having fun with his craft. If this freestyle is telling of what is to come on the album, we are in for a treat and possibly his best project to date.
