Here For Now: Dance/Pop

Amidst a historical, empowering, and odd summer, we are all currently consumed by the pandemic and the must-needed push for racial justice and equality, as Black people continue to be murdered by police. We must continue to address these issues, stay as safe as we possibly can, have uncomfortable conversations, and vote for legislators that will fight for and implement real change. That being said, sometimes an escape is necessary and Louis The Child's debut album Here For Now does just that. It is undoubtedly an album for the summer, whether you are kicking it on a socially distanced beach, chilling with friends, or heading out for a late evening drive.
The young electronic-duo out of Winnetka, Illinois has become very popular among teens and college students over the last few years, gaining widespread recognition with singles "Better Not" and "It's Strange". They have not stalled at all and after three EPs over the last nine-years, Robby Hauldren and Frederic Kennett's first full album is finally here.
Before even hitting play on Here For Now, the features-list makes it apparent that the project is going to be FIREEEE. It is indeed that, after the 33-second intro every song from there on out is a good time. There is not a single skip throughout the project and the duo expanded their range on some of the tracks, such as "Get Together" with Duckwrth. All 14-songs on this 43-minute LP allow you to get completely lost in the music and that is exactly what Louis The Child wants, saying:
"Dancing cause we just dropped our debut album!!!! Please listen all the way through, and listen to the words. Take a drive, put on headphones and get lost, whatever it is you do...take it all in and give yourself a moment to appreciate the beauty of being alive" (via Instagram/@louisthechild)
After officially putting their first album out there for all of us to enjoy, it is definitely time to begin to consider Louis The Child as the top artist in dance music. Here For Now is better than expected in each and every way, and now it finally feels like we really know Louis The Child.
