Pink Sweat$ is Ready for Stardom

The R&B-Pop singer out of Philly, born David Bowden, gained mainstream recognition for his song “Honesty” back in 2018, but the last few months he proved that he is absolutely ready to achieve star-status. He has really started to blow up by collaborating with the electronic duo Galantis for the summer hit “Only A Fool”, producing the single “Cadillac Drive” for the HBO series insecure, and then finally dropping his third and best EP, The Prelude. Other than these hot releases, the singer boasts his signature pink outfits with confidence and comes off as an extremely genuine and fun guy at all times.

The 28-year old has garnered millions of streams with his soft and soothing voice that feels so familiar, yet also new and fresh. Everything that Sweat$ does feels so effortless, as he attempts to break through with predominantly acoustic ballads and catchy, but typically slower lyrics. His recent release The Prelude, is filled with six songs that shuffle perfectly. Throughout these tracks Sweat$ is transparent and emotional, especially on “Not Alright” and “At My Worst”.

When discussing his music via Instagram, he stated that “I’ve always used music as a form of expression, and now is no different. “Not Alright” is a song I wrote about the wide range of feelings you experience being black in America.” The rising star definitely seems to understand that social justice issues are bigger than music or any of us and this seems to be who he is as both an artist and a person. Although Pink Sweat$ speaks upon serious issues through his music, he also still finds time to be “Icy” and have fun with it, illustrating great versatility.

Aside from music, Pink Sweat$ is the type of guy who will post a full video on YouTube of him making Fruity Pebbles French Toast…knowing that, how can you not love the guy?! Additionally, his Instagram page is a lot of fun, very pink, and filled with various pictures of him in fresh outfits.

As you can infer from the name of his recent project, The Prelude, it is the introduction to his highly anticipated album, Pink Planet. The album was set to be released in July, but due to recent events such as COVID-19 the album has been put on hold. The Prelude was the perfect project to hold us over and we will continue to wait here patiently for his debut album.
