Sippin' Sundays: Hiatus Kaiyote, Oliver Malcolm, and Terrace Martin

"Get Sun" - Hiatus Kaiyote (Feat. Arthur Verocai)

Mood Valiant will be the third full length album by the Melbourne based group Hiatus Kaiyote and is set to release June 25, 2021. Until the highly anticipated release date, they’re holding us over with the single “Get Sun”. Kaiyote’s signature sound is no doubt embedded in the song, however we hear the group experimenting with new elements such as the use of horns. This begins to blur their typical Neo-Soul sound with that of a jazz big band, and it leaves us wondering what other new components and sounds might the group be playing with.

"Skywalker" - Oliver Malcolm The new single "Skywalker" by Oliver Malcolm is an upbeat, groovy song with ironic undertones of an existential crisis and escapism. The song begins with children singing about “being alone” and then Oliver progresses into an alternative take on our cosmic universe. Although it sounds depressing, Malcolm fills the song with a euphoric sense of meaning in a universe that sometimes feels meaningless. He does this by incorporating enchanting beats and lyrics that will motivate you to do some self-inquiry about our place in all this madness.

"Can't Let You Go" - Terrace Martin, Nick Grant

After an incredible year for Terrace Martin in 2020, the multitalented artist has returned with a new single featuring talented rapper Nick Grant. Martin is most widely known for his diverse music production, although he will occasionally remind us of his always compelling vocals and that is exactly what he does here.
