10. A Boogie wit da Hoodie (24)
A Boogie did not impress with his most recent album Artist 2.0 and I still believe that The Bigger Artist (2017) remains his best work to date, but nonetheless he is a talented artist that could eventually find his way in the rap scene. Threatening to sue rappers that "sound like him" definitely doesn't look good for the Bronx native, considering his last album was pretty unoriginal. A Boogie needs to find a way to get back on track.

9. Lil Yachty (22)
It has become pretty clear that Lil Yachty can't rap very well, especially when looking at his last two studio albums. Despite this the twenty-two year old has molded into a teen favorite and has embraced his distinct image, featuring his crimson dreadlocks. If Yachty is going to continue to have success he should stick to his lighthearted rapping style and build upon what has made him popular among teens.

8. Kodak Black (22)
Kodak may be more known for his legal troubles than his music. That is not a good way to be known and categorized in the public eye, although he has still managed to release some pretty solid music over the years. His most recent album Dying to Live had some bright spots within the project, specifically bangers "ZEZE" and "Calling My Spirit", but when it comes down to it I would not consider Kodak one of the more complete young rappers.

7. Kevin Abstract (23)
The lead man in BROCKHAMPTON is widely known for his involvement in the beloved boy band, although Abstract also brought a certain uniqueness to the genre through his two solo projects American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story and ARIZONA BABY. Abstract gets on this list because of his unique vocal range and the manner in which he freely expresses his queer work and life.

6. Rico Nasty (22)
The Washington D.C. rapper embraces a hard-hitting punk rap style and throws jabs with each and every verse, often on top of music produced by Kenny Beats. Although she is known for sharp verses and cathartic screams, Nasty also has the ability to slow it down and create more gentle bops that are inspired by artists such as Grimes and Rihanna. Rico Nasty brings a unique energy to a scene that is male-dominated and as hip hop producer Kenny Beats states, "She gives a voice to the girls who are sick of having to listen to whatever their fucking boyfriends listen to".

5. Roddy Rich (21)
Roddy Rich has garnered a lot of attention for his most recent album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, specifically singles "The Box" and "High Fashion". I am unsure if Roddy Rich has found originality and his own sound quite yet, although he undoubtedly has star qualities. He has been featured on many songs recently such as Mustard's "Ballin'" and NLE Choppa's "Walk Em Down". It will be interesting to watch Roddy as he continues to get his name out there and search for his own flow.

4. Polo G (21)
Polo G is on the rise as one of hip-hop's new bright stars, illustrating his ability to balance catchy pop rap with street rap. Die A Legend was an impressive debut album for the young North Chicago rapper, giving him a platform to speak upon serious issues that categorized his past, as well as his new lifestyle that he didn't even know existed. What really makes Polo G stand out is his ability to be raw and reveal his emotional complexities.

3. YBN Cordae (22)
Cordae is one of the few young rappers that is defined by his lyricism and he rode this identity all the way to a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album in 2019. Lost Boy was a complete project that featured some of the best in the game in Pusha T and Chance the Rapper, showing the respect that the young rapper has received from his elders. Throughout the story that Cordae tells on Lost Boy he holds his own with these seasoned veterans and despite stumbling at times, his passion and energy shines through.

2. Playboi Carti (23)
The Atlanta rapper's music could be best described as catchy, giddy, or bouncy and he definitely pushes the boundaries. Carti is not necessarily a great rapper and might never be, although his experimental style, hype beats, and unparalleled uniqueness allow him to make great music that is Die Lit. He will probably never be very skilled lyrically and this will continue to be a knock on him throughout his career, but everyone needs wild and disorienting music every now and then.

1. Post Malone (24)
Posty is only twenty-four years old. I was shocked when I found out that the genre bending artist could still be on this list and he was an easy number one when I realized that he was still under twenty-five. Many will argue that Post is not necessarily a rapper, although hip-hop has become an expansive genre where the lines between other genres and hip-hop are often blurred, and he was one of the artists to create this overlap. The grunge artist has consistently produced hits since his breakout single "White Iverson" in 2015, and his three studio albums illustrate his growth as an artist, while all being equally as impressive.
